What is the Harrison Spinks Jade 10000 Mattress?

The Harrison Spinks Jade is a premium natural pocket sprung mattress designed for sleepers looking for responsive support, breathable natural fillings and the ability to choose their preferred mattress tension.

Rather than relying on foam for comfort, the Jade combines layers of natural fibres with thousands of individually responsive springs.

Its 10,000-spring system combines larger Cortec™ Quad pocket springs with smaller HD 2500 Micro springs. These different spring layers work together to respond to changes in pressure and body movement, providing support where it is needed while allowing the mattress to contour around the sleeper.

This combination of advanced spring technology and natural fillings gives the Jade its luxurious yet supportive feel.

10,000 Pocket Springs for Responsive Support

The Harrison Spinks Jade incorporates a total of 10,000 springs, combining the brand's Cortec™ Quad pocket spring system with layers of HD 2500 Micro springs.

Cortec™ Quad Pocket Springs

Cortec™ springs form the supportive core of the mattress. Each spring is able to respond independently to pressure, allowing different areas of the mattress to adapt to the shape and movement of your body.

Independent spring movement can also help reduce the transfer of movement across the mattress compared with traditional interconnected spring systems.

HD 2500 Micro Springs

Layers of smaller HD 2500 Micro springs provide an additional level of contouring closer to the sleeping surface.

These highly responsive springs compress individually as pressure is applied, allowing the mattress to adapt more precisely to the sleeper while adding another layer of cushioning and support.

Together, the Cortec™ Quad and HD Micro spring systems create the responsive support found within the Harrison Spinks Jade 10000.

Natural British Wool, Hemp, Flax and Cotton

The Jade uses carefully selected natural fillings rather than relying on thick layers of synthetic foam.

Its comfort layers include:

British Wool & Viscose
Naturally breathable wool helps regulate temperature and manage moisture while providing soft, resilient cushioning.

British Wool, Hemp & Flax
A blend of natural fibres provides additional comfort, breathability and resilience within the mattress.

Cotton, Hemp & Flax
Breathable plant-based fibres help create a cooler sleeping environment and form an important part of the Jade's seasonal construction.

These natural materials work alongside the spring system to provide cushioning without isolating the sleeper within thick layers of foam.

Seasonal Turn – Warm Side / Cool Side

One of the defining features of the Harrison Spinks Jade 10000 is its Seasonal Turn construction.

Unlike a standard double-sided mattress where both surfaces are designed to feel essentially the same, the Jade has different natural materials positioned close to each sleeping surface.

Warm Side – Winter

The winter side places a wool blend closer to the sleeping surface.

Wool is naturally insulating and breathable, making this side particularly suited to the cooler months of the year.

Cool Side – Summer

The summer side places a cotton blend closer to the sleeping surface.

Cotton is naturally breathable and helps manage heat and moisture, creating a fresher sleeping environment during warmer weather.

Turn the mattress seasonally so that the appropriate surface is uppermost.

Choose Your Mattress Tension

The Harrison Spinks Jade 10000 is available in a choice of:

Soft – a more yielding sleeping surface for those who prefer greater cushioning and contouring.

Medium – balances cushioning with support and is a popular choice for sleepers who don't want their mattress to feel particularly soft or particularly firm.

Firm – provides a more supportive, less yielding sleeping surface for those who prefer a firmer mattress feel.

Mattress tension is a personal preference and shouldn't be selected purely according to whether you sleep on your side or back. Your body weight, build, existing mattress and preferred sleeping feel should also be considered.

If you're unsure which Harrison Spinks mattress tension is right for you, contact our team for advice.

Chemical Treatment-Free Mattress Cover

The Jade is finished with Harrison Spinks' in-house woven FR chemical treatment-free mattress cover.

The cover complements the natural construction of the mattress and provides a comfortable, breathable sleeping surface.

The mattress is finished with two rows of side stitching, a traditional mattress-making technique that helps secure the mattress border while giving the Jade its premium handcrafted appearance.

  • Natural fillings rather than a predominantly foam-based construction
  • British wool, cotton, hemp and flax
  • Seasonal Warm Side / Cool Side comfort

Harrison Spinks Jade vs Ruby

Within the Harrison Spinks Seasonal Turn collection, the Jade 10000 sits below the Ruby 12500.

Both use natural fillings, Cortec™ Quad pocket springs, HD Micro springs and Seasonal Turn technology.

The Ruby increases the overall spring count to 12,500 and introduces an additional layer of Posturfil pocket springs, creating a more sophisticated spring system.

For customers wanting the benefits of Harrison Spinks' Seasonal Turn construction and a substantial 10,000-spring system without moving further up the collection, the Jade represents an excellent balance of luxury, natural materials and advanced spring technology.

Pairing the Jade with a Harrison Spinks Divan Base

The Harrison Spinks Jade 10000 can be paired with a suitable bed frame or divan base.

For a complete Harrison Spinks sleep system, consider pairing the Jade with a Harrison Spinks divan base. Different base constructions can influence the overall feel of your finished bed.

A Padded Top divan base provides a stable, supportive foundation, while a True Edge pocket sprung divan base introduces additional springing beneath the mattress for a more responsive overall feel.

Harrison Spinks divan bases are available separately in a range of styles, fabrics and configurations.

Customers Questions and Answers

Purchasing a new mattress isn't something we do every day, so when we decide to spend our hard earned cash it's very exciting and just like any new parcel that arrives, you'll want to open and use it straight away.

However, should you be sleeping on your brand new mattress right away?

Can you sleep on a new mattress straight away?

The simple answer is, no. Most mattress labels, especially a rolled mattress, it will state it's not supposed to be used within the first 24 hours, which as a rule is the recommended time you should wait after opening your brand new mattress - this is for good reason. After you've spent your hard earned cash on a sumptuous new bed, the last thing you would want to do is damage it, sleeping on it straight away could do just that.

Why wait to sleep on your new mattress?

Often, new mattresses will come rolled or compressed for delivery so it will need to expand to it's full usable size before you sleep on it. The process of the mattresses expanding to a useable size typically takes 24 hours but of course this can vary per manufacturer, some will take less time but some will take longer.

Before using your new mattress, check the specifications on the exact model you have purchased for the exact depth in inches. You can then measure the mattress to ensure it is suitable for sleeping on.

It is also advised to leave the sheets off your new mattress to help the mattress breath and 'air out', to ensure your new mattress recovers and any packaging smell can disperse.

Some mattress do indeed produce a smell whilst in the packaging, this is most commonly found with mattresses that contain memory foam or chemicals. To ensure these smell have left, it's recommended you leave the mattress to air out, however if you wanted to avoid mattress with fire retardant chemicals then head over to our Harrison Spinks range full of naturally fire retardant, chemical free beds.

Can I sleep on my pocket sprung mattress right away?

Not right away, but there's good news. If you have purchased a fully natural mattress that doesn't arrive vacuum packed and is naturally fire retardant, you'll only need to air your mattress for a few hours to allow the natural materials time to breath before fitting your sheets. However as mentioned above, if your mattress contains foam it's best to air your new purchase for a longer period of time. This means whatever material or type of mattress you buy, it should be aired properly before use.

How do I break in my new mattress?

Initially your new mattress might feel a little firm, but this is completely normal. The materials in your new mattress will need time to adjust to your body, to soften and stretch out in order to provide you the full support you require. It can take a couple of weeks for the mattress to settle, and you'll be required to take some steps to break in your new mattress.

First you'll need to let your mattress breath without any sheets fitted, laid down flat with a window slightly open to help the new mattress smell disperse.

Your existing bedframe/base will also need to be considered as your mattress will need to adjust and conform to the shape of this also. If your base is old and worn out if could negatively affect the mattresses performance. If possible, before making your purchase, you should think about whether your also need a new bedframe/base.

Once you've aired out your mattress, make sure you sleep on it every night for the first few weeks. It needs to be laid on often to help the fillings settle, this will also help both your mattress and your body adjust to one another. If your new mattress is for the spare room, please bear this in mind.

Conclusion

At the very least, your new mattress should be left to expand, reshape and air out after your delivery. If you really want to get the most comfort out of your mattress, prolong its life and have the best sleeping experience then this should be done for 24 hours before using.

This will cover all bases to ensure that whatever type of mattress you have bought has the best chance of being everything you had hoped for...and more! It's what you, and your new mattress deserve.
