A Greener Future for Hypnos

British bedmaker Hypnos has partnered with Europe’s largest integrated logistics company, DFDS, to pioneer a greener approach to mattress delivery. Marking a milestone in sustainable logistics, Hypnos is now utilizing the first DFDS-operated Heavy Goods Electric Vehicle (HGEV) in the UK.
The Volvo FH Electric, boasting a range of up to 300km, represents a significant advancement in reducing carbon emissions. It enables Hypnos to deliver mattresses to retailers and contract projects across the country with zero tailpipe emissions. Given the scarcity of HGEVs on UK roads, this achievement underscores Hypnos’s commitment to sustainable innovation.
This vehicle is the first of several electric trucks that will join Hypnos’s fleet, which already includes vehicles powered by renewable bio-diesel (HVO). Made from waste vegetable and animal fats, HVO is a second-generation biofuel that has enabled Hypnos to cut CO2e emissions by over 66% compared to traditional fossil-fuel-derived diesel.
Through its partnership with DFDS, Hypnos is not only reducing the carbon footprint of its transportation but also improving operational efficiency. By analyzing existing delivery routes with advanced tracking technology, DFDS successfully eliminated an entire route without compromising customer service or delivery times.
David Baldry, Group Managing Director at Hypnos, commented:
“This exciting addition to our transport fleet reflects our unwavering commitment to reducing our carbon footprint and building a sustainable future. From the eco-friendly materials we use in our products to how we deliver them, we are proud to lead the bedding industry in environmental responsibility.”
Hypnos plans to introduce three additional Volvo FH HGEVs in the coming months as part of its ongoing drive toward sustainability.
